Brooklyn Kitchen

This project saw the design of a custom-built kitchen within a brownstone in Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens neighborhood. Our client, a pastry chef and food blogger, needed a kitchen that would perform for both professional and personal purposes, so she hired SJA to create such an environment. Built around the client’s specialty appliances and professional-grade specifications, the design enables the space to seamlessly double as a domestic environment suitable for cooking and entertaining. Custom architectural elements, such as an arched entryway, a newly built breakfast nook, and built-in custom cabinetry, integrate the space with the rest of the brownstone and create a backdrop for informal family encounters amidst a professional kitchen.
